things to do and see …
During your weekend away you can visit picturesque historical Dutch villages along famous rivers that are within cycling distance. Baambrugge, Abcoude, Ouderkerk, Vreeland, Loenen and Breukelen are a few places to mention where you can do shopping, eat out and have a drink. Hollands most famous organic farmshop De Lindenhoff is 4 km away. Many different kinds of restaurants and bars for every budget are closeby (the 1st one is 70m away). Even 2 Michelin star restaurants are options within 5 km reach and the phone# of the local pizza, shoarma or thai delivery place will be at hand.
… in the area
My own best kept secret in the area under the smoke of our lovely, lively, booming and historic Amsterdam: rowing a boat from a farmer in a place called 'Botshol' through a beautiful local nature reserve. There are absolutely stunning surroundings every season and many fun things to do. This bed breakfast is a real recommender for your getaway in The Netherlands.
There are several places where you can rent a boat and enjoy the Vinkeveense Plassen. Including various small rivers, adjoining the lake.
In summertime, the lake is perfect for sailing, swimming, fishing, waterskiing, wake boarding, scuba diving and canoeing. There is even a submarine for 2 people and its captain for hire, to enjoy the clearness of the water.
In wintertime, iceskating is an option too, of course depending on the weather. You can literally skate away from your own terrace. Considering all this you will have a fantastic weekend away!
